Manhattan Townhouse of ‘Devil Wears Prada’ Character Miranda Priestly Sells for $26.5 Million

The property spans six stories and is a sprawling 12,000 sq ft with seven bedrooms and a custom-built basketball court

The iconic Manhattan townhouse from “The Devil Wears Prada,” where Meryl Streep’s character, Miranda Priestly, resided, has been sold for approximately $26.5 million, according to the buyer’s representatives. This seven-bedroom Upper East Side home, spanning 12,000 square feet across six floors, was initially listed for $27.5 million in May by Adam Modlin of Modlin Group, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Back in 2003, the house was acquired by Craig Effron, a founding partner at Scoggin Capital Management, and his wife, Caryn Effron, for $8.8 million.

Corey Shuster from Douglas Elliman, who assisted the buyer, mentioned that the purchaser had been searching for a townhouse in the area for about 18 months and found this property to be a perfect match. The house is renowned for its exceptional entertainment features and impeccable condition.

Originally constructed in 1907 and later renovated in 2005, the limestone-and-marble townhouse boasts a top-floor custom-built basketball court, multiple outdoor spaces, including a Jacuzzi-equipped terrace, an eat-in kitchen with a charming gingham-patterned floor, and an elegant marble fireplace in the formal entry gallery.

Surprisingly, the property went under contract in just eight weeks, despite a nearly 40% decline in luxury home sales in the second quarter, as reported by Elliman. However, prices in the same period saw an increase of approximately 4%.
