A Traditional Louisiana Home Rooted in History and Heritage
Step inside the Baton Rouge home of Jeremy and Lindsay Simien—a deeply personal and richly layered space that reflects the couple’s shared devotion to Louisiana’s culture, history, and storytelling.
Jeremy and Lindsay's country traditional home is anything but static. It’s a warm, multi-generational space designed to be lived in, loved, and explored—by guests, by history buffs, and most importantly, by their young son.
Jeremy, a Louisiana-based art historian and antique collector, has spent the last decade seeking out furnishings, portraits, and decorative objects that speak to his roots. His collecting journey began with a fascination for the material culture of Louisiana, inspired by historical inventory sheets tied to his own ancestors. As his passion deepened, so did his mission: to find and preserve portraits of Creoles of color and return these powerful pieces of history to the region they belong to. One of the most striking stories the couple shares is that of the Bélizaire and the Frey Children painting. Jeremy played a pivotal role in identifying and returning the portrait of Bélizaire, a Black teenager who had been painted over and erased from the artwork for decades. Thanks to his relentless research, Bélizaire’s story has been brought to the world.
Lindsay, equally passionate about creating a home filled with meaning and comfort, has helped shape each room into a thoughtful blend of past and present. From beautiful antiques to a Disney-themed kitchen complete with a monorail circling Cinderella’s castle, the home balances elegance with joyful touches and family-friendly charm.
